Oldknow's Last Black Walnut Tree

Artist in residence from 2014-2018. The Revealing Oldknow's Legacy a Heritage Lottery Funded Project, collaboratively bring Canal & River Trust and Mellor Archaeological Society together to uncover Samuel Oldknow's Legacy. Mill owner, gantalman farmer and all round Georgian self made man whom maintained business and a lifestyle thanks to a little help from a friend (Richard Arkwright).


This Black Walnut was one of the first piece to be used on sandbag signage to help visitors explore the archaeological mill site when volunteers were unable to be around. Oldknow was known (photographic evidence) to ave planted 6 around the entrance of the mill. There is only one surviving just like this print.
